Description

The Cuppie Menstrual Disc – Large (Purple) is a soft, reusable disc that collects your flow instead of absorbing it — a single, body-safe product that replaces years of disposables. The Large disc holds roughly 60 ml, giving you extra capacity for heavier days, longer stretches between changes, and confident overnight protection.

Like all discs, it rests higher at the base of the cervix and is held by tucking behind the pubic bone rather than by suction. That higher position and larger bowl make the Large a strong choice for heavy flow, for users who have given birth, or for anyone who wants fewer changes through the day. It can also be worn during intimacy, and the soft pull-string keeps removal simple.

Large disc specifications

  • Capacity: approximately 60 ml
  • Colour: Purple
  • Rim diameter: 68 mm · outer span with string tab approx. 120 mm
  • Bowl depth: approx. 35 mm · rim thickness 6.5–7 mm (12 mm at base)
  • Removal string: approx. 57 mm soft silicone pull-tab
  • Best for: heavy flow, post-birth, overnight, fewer daily changes

How to use a menstrual disc

A disc sits differently from a cup. Instead of sealing by suction in the vaginal canal, it rests higher — in the vaginal fornix at the base of the cervix — and is held in place by tucking the front rim up behind your pubic bone.

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water.
  2. Pinch the disc flat in the middle so it forms a narrow figure-eight or oval.
  3. Insert and aim down and back, toward the base of your spine, sliding it as far back as it comfortably goes.
  4. Tuck the front rim up behind your pubic bone. Once tucked, the disc opens and sits securely — you shouldn’t feel it.
  5. To remove: wash your hands, bear down gently, hook a finger under the front rim (or pull the string), and ease it out level to avoid spills. Empty into the toilet, rinse, and reinsert.

Wear time & activities

Depending on your flow, a disc can be worn for up to 12 hours, making it ideal for long workdays, school, travel, and overnight. Because it sits internally with no string-and-suction setup, you can swim, run, do yoga, and stay active with confidence. Many people also find a disc comfortable to wear during intimacy.

Material & safety

Made from soft, body-safe medical-grade silicone — hypoallergenic, non-porous, and free from BPA and latex. The non-porous surface means bacteria can’t soak in, and the disc can be fully sterilised by boiling between cycles.

Cleaning & care

Rinse with clean water during changes and reinsert. Between cycles, sterilise by boiling for 5–10 minutes (keep enough water in the pot so it doesn’t scorch — a clean pot over a jiko works fine), or use a steam steriliser for convenience. Once fully dry, store in a breathable cotton pouch, never an airtight container.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose Medium or Large?
Pick Medium (Pink, ~42ml) for light-to-normal flow or if you’re new to discs. Choose Large (Purple, ~60ml) for heavy flow, after a vaginal birth, or if you want fewer changes through the day and night. Many people start with Medium and size up only if they need more capacity. How is a disc different from a menstrual cup?
A disc sits higher — in the vaginal fornix at the base of the cervix — and is held in place by tucking behind the pubic bone, rather than sealing by suction like a cup. It generally holds more, many find it easier to position, and it can be worn during intimacy.
Will it hurt or feel uncomfortable?
It shouldn’t — once positioned correctly you shouldn’t feel it at all. If you do, it usually isn’t tucked far enough back; bear down gently, remove, and re-insert aiming down and back. Most people are comfortable within a cycle or two.
Can I wear it during intimacy?
Yes. Because a disc sits at the base of the cervix rather than in the vaginal canal, it can be worn comfortably during intimacy — one of the main reasons people choose a disc over a cup.
Can I sleep, swim, and exercise with it in?
Yes. Worn correctly, a disc stays securely in place for up to 12 hours — ideal for overnight, swimming, gym, running, yoga, travel, and long workdays with no string and no leaks.
Will it leak?
Rarely, once the front rim is tucked behind the pubic bone. Most early leaks come from the disc not being pushed back far enough or not tucked fully. A panty liner during your first cycle gives extra peace of mind while you learn the placement.
How do I remove it without a mess?
Wash your hands, bear down gently, hook a finger under the front rim (or pull the string), and ease it out keeping it level so it doesn’t tip. Empty into the toilet, rinse, and reinsert. Doing it over the toilet the first few times helps.
How do I clean and sterilize it?
During your period, rinse with clean water (or mild fragrance-free soap) between changes. At the end of each cycle, sterilize by boiling for 5–10 minutes — keep enough water in the pot so it doesn’t scorch, or use an electric steam sterilizer. Store the dry disc in a breathable pouch, never airtight.
Is the silicone really safe?
Yes. Each disc is made from 100% medical-grade silicone — hypoallergenic, non-porous, and free from BPA and latex. The non-porous surface means bacteria can’t soak in, and it can be fully sterilized between cycles.
How will my package look when delivered?
Completely discreet. The outer packaging is plain — no Cuppie branding, no product images, nothing identifiable from the outside. Only you will know what’s inside.
Can I pay on delivery?
Yes — Pay on Delivery is available in Nairobi and environs via M-PESA, card, or cash on receipt. Nationwide orders are prepaid via M-PESA or card.
